Rosemary Sea Salt Favor

Use rosemary, an herb of love and remembrance, to preserve memories of your seaside wedding. Guests can take home this fragrant sea salt to sprinkle over potatoes or use as an ingredient in focaccia. After preparing, decant into airtight containers, and label with your new, shared initial and wedding date.

 

Rosemary Sea Salt Recipe
Makes 8 cups

 

This herb-infused salt is fragrant and can be substituted for unseasoned salt in any savory recipe.

Tools and Materials

1 three-pound box kosher salt (about 8 cups)
Bunches fresh rosemary, plus more for garnish

Rosemary Sea Salt How-To

1. In a large, high-sided saute pan, combine salt and rosemary. Place over medium heat, and warm through, about 10 minutes. Transfer salt and rosemary mixture to a container. Let cool 5 minutes, uncovered; then cover with an airtight lid. Let stand at least overnight.

 

2. When ready to fill containers, discard old rosemary. Fill desired containers with salt, and garnish top with a fresh sprig of rosemary; seal containers.

Personalize Your Table Numbers

Who says that you have to do traditional numbers for your table numbers? Table numbers are just another small detail that you can personalize. If you or your fiancé are woodworkers, design the numbers yourself. You could also write out the numbers instead of the traditional numerals. Pictures are another great option. Take your engagement pictures and customize them for your tables or take a pic of your precious little pouch. Another option is to name the tables after local attractions in your city. You could also use special places you and your fiancé have been to instead of numbers. Your wedding theme can also be carried out to your table numbers. For example, if you are having a beach themed wedding then name the tables things such as starfish, seashells, etc. Whatever option you choose, have it reflect your wedding and your tastes and it is sure to be a hit!

Guest Book Idea~ Calling all Sports Fans!

 

Are you or your fiancé avid sports fans? Then show it at your wedding! Instead of a traditional guest book, sign a football, baseball, or basketball. If hockey is your thing, then have everyone sign a hockey stick! All of these items would look wonderful displayed in a shadow box or hanging on the wall. If you like this idea but want to play it down a bit, just frame a picture of yourselves dressed in your favorite team’s jerseys (or going to a sporting event) and leave plenty of ink-friendly matting around the frame.

Here is a cute little idea from the girls at the knot. Take three picture frames and remove the glass and backings. Then take vellum paper and print your image on the paper. After that staple, the paper to the back of the three frames. Then attach the three frames together and form a triangle. Place a candle (in a holder for fire safety) in the middle and you have a beautiful personalized luminary. These luminaries can display table numbers, dinner menus, special notes to the guests, or a combination of the three!

Cookie “Bags”

These containers were made to look like humble brown-paper bags, but that’s where the resemblance ends. Sweet and crunchy, they can hold fruit or candy and can be served as an individual dessert as part of a buffet, or offered as a take-home favor. To make Cookie “Bags,” use a scalloped pastry wheel to cut the baked batter into strips about 1 1/2 inches wider than you want the bag’s height to be. Place a mold on the cookie; use an offset spatula to wrap the cookie around the mold. For the bottom of the bag, fold the excess cookie as you would if wrapping a gift.

Parts of a Wedding Program

When referring to wedding etiquette, you will find that while a program is not a must, it can be a wonderful detail to include. Programs allow the guests to follow the events of the wedding, get to know your wedding party, and they are simply beautiful. So….what should you include in this beautiful addition to your wedding? Typically, you have the following items:

 

The Cover
The cover includes the names of the couple, and the date and location of the ceremony. It may also include a picture of the couple or a beautiful graphic design or image.

 

Order of Events
After the cover comes the order of events. This tells the guests the events of the ceremony. If you haven’t already included your names, wedding date, location, and time on the front cover, consider listing that information on the inside just before the order of events. Then list what will happen during the ceremony, including processional music, greeting, readings, prayers, exchange of vows, ring ceremony, unity candle ceremony, pronouncement of marriage, recessional music, and any other ceremony music. While your list may not include all of these elements, it may include some traditions not listed here. Be sure to list the events in the order they will occur.

This is a simple list of the names and roles of your bridal party. The following is a common way to order the bridal party. The names of each member would follow their title.

You may wish to include some personal extras in your program as well.
• You may explain the religious elements in your ceremony and their significance.
• A personal note to your friends and family
• A special sentence about each member of the wedding party
• Inspirational quotes, and poems
• Memorials are another thing that can be included in the program (for example: The memorial candle is lit in honor of the bride’s mother, Shirley Fielding. OR On this day of happiness, we would like to remember those who are no longer with us, especially Derrick Peterson, grandfather of the bride, and Samantha Wilson, mother of the groom.).
• Directions to the reception
• The new address of the bride and groom (typically on the bottom of the last page)
• Include what the bride’s “something old, new, borrowed and blue” are.
• If you are getting married in a significant location, explain it in the program. Maybe you and your groom met there, or had your first date there, etc. Even if the location isn’t directly significant to your relationship, but has an interesting history, that can also be included.
• Include a short explanation of how the bride and groom met, and the proposal story
• Include the lyrics to your first dance song and why it was chosen.
• Include poem from the bride to the groom and vice versa.

 

Programs are a wonderful way to personalize your wedding by attending to the small details. They also make a great souvenir for your guests and help them feel included in the ceremony.
